Money donated by leading bathroom supplier HiB has been given to a charity that helps homeless families.
More than £4,000 has been given to The Gingerbread Centre in Stoke-on-Trent which provides emergency accommodation for more than 33 families across two sites and provides additional support and guidance to those in need. The charities mission is to provide a safe space and keep families together during a difficult and uncertain time.
The money given will be used to pay for the centre’s on-site activity club, which provides fun and play opportunities for children and their parents, with sessions and games including messy play, baking, drawing and reading. The club also provides family day trips to local attractions to help build strong family bonds and widen opportunities.
Talking about the donation and how it will help the charity, Chris Belyavin, Fundraiser at The Gingerbread Centre, said: “The grant that we have received from HiB towards the cost of running our Activity Club at The Gingerbread Centre will ensure that we can continue to offer full access to the Club and everything that it offers to our families. Because it helps to rebuild confidence and self-esteem, it is vital that we can do that, so a massive thank you to HiB for their generous support.”
The donation made to the Gingerbread Centre was organised as part of HiB’s Aspire grant programme which was organised in partnership with the Community Foundation for Staffordshire. With the help of the foundation, staff at HiB were able to identify a number of good causes which would benefit from additional funding and support.
To strengthen HiB’s ongoing support for The Gingerbread Centre, staff from HiB visited the facility in Stoke on Trent to meet the team and take a tour, while also finding out more about the important and life-changing work the charity does.
