The HiB Team.
There are three things that differentiate HiB from its contemporaries”, says Warren Ginsberg, the company’s founder and Chairman. “Service, service and…” he pauses, “Service.” He’s not wrong, of course: as any of HiB’s bathroom retailer, designer and specifier customers will agree – this is a company that has lived and breathed good old-fashioned customer service for every one of the 25 years it’s celebrating this summer. However, a precise and personalised approach to its customers is really only one of many of this modest, yet quietly successful organisation’s attributes and achievements. Founded in 1990, HiB has been responsible for a string of bathroom ‘firsts’. These include illuminated mirrors, mirrors and bathroom cabinets with integrated LED lighting and incredibly, steam-free mirrors and cabinets. Alongside its pioneering bathroom mirrors and cabinetry, HiB has also championed change in bathroom ventilation. Once the preserve of electrical wholesalers, showrooms didn’t offer ventilation products. Until, that is, HiB’s stylish, whisper-quiet and LED illuminated designs came along. Together with attractive, customer-friendly display boards, they were enthusiastically received by retailers and builders’ merchants – and the category continues to expand. Often unassuming and rarely courting publicity, HiB, is nonetheless proud to be celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The company’s state-of-the-art, national distribution centre is a far cry from its beginnings in a shared area of a general warehouse. But from little acorns grow great oaks. And HiB – largely due to a winning blend of original design, product innovation and great people – grew quickly. It is a company that both nurtures and values people – whether as employees or customers. Today, 30% of the HiB Tamworth ‘family’ have worked for HiB for a decade or longer, whilst at the company’s Head Office in Barnet, the percentage increases to 70%. Every year, the company nominates a local charity and a national charity – and as the news pages of the KBB press will confirm – its fundraising efforts are legendary. Today, as HiB prepares to mark its 25th anniversary, the company dispatches over 3000 consignments a week – 80% of which are delivered by HiB’s own fleet of vehicles – and introduces three new product collections a year. In addition to its established UK business, HiB also has a growing export market. With even more new products in the pipeline for 2015 and 2016, HiB certainly has a bright future. But one thing is for sure – no matter its growth, it is still the company’s original values, enthusiasm for people and passion for is products that remain at the core of HiB. Happy birthday, HiB!
