HiB is ‘plugging’ in to a brighter future!

To reduce the impact on the environment, HiB has installed new electric charging stations at its Inspire House Distribution site.

Three new chargers have been installed in the company’s car park allowing up to six electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously. The recent investment into the new stations is part of HiB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy and the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and caring for the environment. Staff across the site will be able to benefit from the new chargers which will charge all electric vehicles.

Talking about the new chargers, Transport Manager Craig Turner said: “Having these installed by E-ON Drive will allow us to provide all staff members with the means to charge their vehicles on site. We currently have five fully electric vehicles within our fleet, with more on order and five plug in hybrids. When the additional vehicles arrive, 33% of the company cars in our fleet will be fully electric and able to benefit from the new chargers. The number of electric vehicles we use is something we are looking to increase in the future and developing our facilities to accommodate that switch to more environmentally friendly power is high in our CSR strategy.”

The new floor standing charging posts are the latest in a series of investments the company has made to improve sustainability and reduce its impact on the environment.

Operations Director Neil Berry said: “A part of our vision is to make a substantial difference to our people, partners and the world we live in. This means making sure that we are doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint, become more sustainable and help the environment. It is fantastic to have these new charging stations installed at Inspire House, not only because it will benefit those that have an electric vehicle now, but it also means that we have the infrastructure in place as our electric fleet grows.”
