HiB supports YMCA Sofa Surf event

Employees and Directors across HiB swapped their beds for sofas, tents and cardboard boxes to support the YMCA Sofa Surf Event Appeal.

As part of the event, staff members and their families spent the night sleeping in unusual places inside their homes and gardens to raise awareness of homelessness and young people who have to sofa surf. Among those taking part were HiB Logistics Director Richard Berry and Operations Director Neil Berry, who spent a cold evening sleeping in their gardens in cardboard boxes.

In support of the campaign, HiB pledged to donate £10 for each staff member who took part, with a total of £340 raised for the YMCA.

Homelessness can affect anyone and the YMCA do a fantastic job supporting young people in their time of need. The sofa surf event was a chance to understand a fraction of the challenges that young people sleeping rough face and it was an eye-opening experience.

“We hope the money raised will help the YMCA continue their life-changing work helping others in need.”
